My name is Sarah, and I live with my family in a 90-year-old cottage on the outskirts of Birmingham, Alabama. My husband, Eric, and I have been married for more than a decade, and we have two little boys that keep us on our toes. Motherhood turned my life inside out: it drew me closer to God, it gave me the motivation I needed to be more intentional about the kind of lifestyle I wanted for our family, and it made our quaint little house finally become a home.
I first began blogging when Seth, our oldest son, was born in 2010. I continued posting stories about our family until 2015, when Hawk (our youngest son) was about 18 months old. In the fall of 2017, I decided to begin blogging again. I never stopped missing the simple work of it: the paying attention to my life and my heart and taking notes about what I found there to share with others.
I want my online platform to encourage women to find contentment in our homes, loving the right here place of now, even when it feels messy and nothing at all like heaven on earth. I believe we each are able to make ourselves at home wherever life has brought us and offer hospitality to the people around us in simple ways. And sometimes we need to close the door and go deep in our connection with Jesus: because no matter what our earthly home looks like, He will always be our true home. Jesus is the perfect future we’ve been searching for all along!
I am just wild about:
- My husband, Eric
- Our sons, Seth (7) and Hawk (4)
- A cup of coffee
- A stack of good books
- Blueberry-wheat pancakes
- Sunday mornings at our church home
- A cool breeze
- An easy hike through the woods
- Art museums
- Watching birds play
- A clean kitchen
- Lemon essential oil
- Meeting friends for lunch
- Reading to my children
I hope you find yourself at home here! Grab a cup of coffee and let’s chat about thriving in faith + raising wild children + a perpetual book stack + hearth and home + simple living. I’d love to hear from you! If you’d like to contact me, feel free to use this form to send me a note!
